Counselling
Linda Deng, MA, RCC-ACS
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with 20 years of counselling experience. I have worked with the BC Government, BC Emergency Services, and with the various Health Authorities. I received my Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto.
Working from a person-centered approach to strengthen healthy communication, emotional regulation, and coping skills, I personalize the treatment approach to your needs. Attachment theory and emotion-focused communication strongly inform my work with individuals, couples, and families.
I work with clients who speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
Carl Rogers, founder of Humanistic Psychology:
"Growth occurs when individuals confront problems, struggle to master them, and through that struggle develop aspects of their skills, capacities, views about life."
Approach to Therapy
Humans are relational in nature---we long for a connection with another person. We are in relationships with our family members, friends, partner, and even with ourselves. My work with you will explore all aspects of your life with a focus on your relationships.
My core therapeutic value centres on respecting that each person possesses inherent wisdom. As such, I believe in the power of each individual to harness their personal strength towards working for lasting change. Coming from an attachment and trauma informed perspective, I value the importance of developing a safe, trusting, and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Building resilience, developing insight, increasing compassion, for self and for others, and improving relationships are the cornerstones of my work with my clients. Healing, new solutions, and lasting change are possible when we are open to guidance from a skilled therapist and when we allow ourselves to delve deeper into our consciousness.
